What is a Red Dove

The Red Dove is a small dove that is native to Mexico and areas of South America. This gentle bird, which perhaps has the most melodious, flute-like coo of any other dove, is best distinguished by its black scaling stripes that appear on its neck and a salmon pink breast. The Red Dove enjoys a seed diet and warm temperatures.

Doves are considered a symbol of tenderness, love, and peace. When a dove mates, it does so for life, which makes these gentle, caring birds a great symbol of two people's love for each other. Especially on their wedding day.
